Rowe didn’t know what the fuck he was doing. He just didn’t plan to fumble his way through this with his dogs as an audience. He hoped it wasn’t visible on the outside because on the inside, he was shaking like this was his first time. In a way, it was. The one time he’d given in to his curiosity about the male half of his species, he’d been a lot drunker than he was now. He mostly remembered the overwhelming excitement he’d felt and later he’d attributed it to some twisted sense of the forbidden.

He’d had a few beers tonight but he’d also hit some of Noah’s leftover ribs, so he was wide awake and his lingering buzz was fading fast. Add in a kiss that had shocked his libido from hibernation to overdrive and he was ready to try again.

With the same man.

That fact hit him hard. He’d looked at other men over the years, but only one had ever intrigued him enough to give in and here he was again. And this time, Rowe wasn’t the same. He’d grown up, experienced life and loss, and he no longer felt that odd sense of something forbidden. He’d been around his friends long enough to know the truth. No, this was new. And exciting.

Rowe was very aware that he was leading one of his closest friends to his bed. Most of his shaking came from anticipation. Holy hell, he loved kissing Noah. The man’s hand was hot in his and he’d felt amazing against him—hard muscles and his dick, damn. He’d had his own in his hand countless times and it hadn’t been the same at all. He knew how good fingers felt wrapped around that sensitive flesh and to be the one causing those soft catches of breath felt amazing. He knew what Noah felt, and holding that warm, silky skin over steel…shorted out his brain. He paused at his door.

He wanted to explore every inch of Noah. He’d wanted that before but what they’d had was an over-stimulated night of crazy passion that had been brought on by holding it back so long. He remembered coming more than once in that explosive haze, but they’d never slowed down to explore.

Noah tightened his fingers and tugged, causing Rowe to glance over his shoulder. Noah lifted an eyebrow, silently asking if he’d stopped because he’d changed his mind.

“We’re doing this,” he gritted out through clenched teeth.

He pulled Noah into his bedroom. They got through the door and he turned to kick it shut before the dogs could follow, then grabbed a handful of Noah’s shirt and tugged him close. They stared at each other—green locked with blue.

“Still doing okay, Ward?”

He studied the slightly wary look in his friend’s eyes and hated it. He wanted nothing but that overwhelming heat, wanted him to stare at Rowe like he had earlier. Like he wanted to eat him alive. “Yeah. I’m working on instinct here, but I’m all in.”

The wicked grin he got in return sent butterflies into his belly.
